Metallica's Trujillo Rescues Jaco Pastorius' Bass of Doom

"The Pastorius family was electrified to learn in December 2007 that Jaco’s Bass of Doom — the fretless 1962 Fender Jazz Bass that had been stolen from a park bench in Greenwich Village in 1986 — had actually surfaced in a small music store in Manhattan’s east side."

Some things you just can't make up.  Jaco's fretless Jazz Bass went missing for over 20 years and then suddenly re-emerged.

Read the story here: Bass of Doom

Eventually it found its way back to the Pastorius family thanks to Metallica's Robert Trujillo.

Another Vintage Fender Bass Guitar – The Mustang Bass

The Mustang bass isn't usually the first Fender bass guitar you think of. But give it up for the bass that became the rage among teenage musicians in the 60s & 70s.

Top 10 Bass Guitar Players Today........Really?

I came across an article last week in which someone listed their opinion of the "Top 10 Bass Guitar Players Today".

The article heading is misleading because it led me to believe these were current bass players or at least they were all still alive. Upon reading the article I found that a couple of these bassists are deceased, so it's really a list of all-time top bass players.

I've got two problems with this:

1 - I don't agree with the list
2 - The writer closed the comments so you can't voice your opinion...Gee, I wonder why?

Okay it's his article and he's entitled to write what he wants...blah, blah, blah. Fine, but there were two such blatant omissions (in my opinion) that I was wondering what everyone else thought. But (did I mention) the comments are closed.

Well, they are not closed here. Check out the article and let me know what you think: Top 10 Bass Players Today.

So who were the two omissions? Well I'll give you a hint. One of them played a fretless version of this Fender Bass.

Can You Really Play Bass Guitar Using An iPhone App?

The story goes that a band had all its instruments stolen so they used apps on their iPhones to give a concert.

Marketing ploy? Perhaps, but take a look and see what you think.

When you're done check out Vintage Bass Guitar... no apps, just the real thing here.

Sour notes: Man arrested after smashing guitar into downtown street

Just a funny little article about a bass player and why he did what he did.

Lets hope the guitar he smashed wasn't one of these: Vintage Bass Guitar.  If it was he is going to be a whole lot angrier when he realizes what he did.
